Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies is committed to realizing the words of Swami Vivekananda Ji: “Man Making, Character Building and Nation Building”. VIPS is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, recognized by Bar Council of India and UGC under section 2(f), with NAAC ‘A++’ accreditation. Dr. S.C. Vats, Chairman, VIPS, a great philanthropist and educationist believes in perfection. Thus, the motto of VIPS is “In Pursuit of Perfection”.
With the endeavor of imparting quality and contemporary education in the field of Economics, Vivekananda School of Economics was incepted in 2017. Since its inception, the School has been working to train our young minds to be the thoughtful, dynamic and mindful economists of the future. VSE presently offers a three-year degree course in B.A.(Hons) Economics that aims to inculcate human, technical and conceptual skills in students. Knowledge of fundamental economics as well as the core functional areas of Economics like Micro Economics, Macro Economics, International Trade, Public Economics, and Growth and Development etc, is imparted through its comprehensive course structure.
In the period of rapidly changing and forever vibrant global environment, it is indispensable to break from the traditional teaching pedagogies and incorporate modern methods that are beyond classroom teaching. The department of Economics has been continually fostering a culture of all-inclusive development and learning for the welfare of students and society at large .

Contemporary education is essentially a multi-disciplined education system which aims at preparing multi-tasking professionals. Considering this, VSE regularly conducts professional skill development activities from the first year itself, which includes panel discussions, paper presentations, debates, quizzes, etc. Through all such activities, we intend to make our students relate the theoretical economic concepts with the real world at both the Micro and Macro level. Apart from traditional teaching methodologies, we focus on advance student-centric teaching techniques like learning by doing, use of educational videos, use of ICT, flipped classrooms and interactive learning.

At VSE, we emphasize not only on making our students academically brilliant, but true leaders and problem solvers, thus preparing them for the corporate life ahead.
For this VSE has an active student-industry interface wherein experts and eminent speakers from big corporate houses, economic think-tanks and research centres come to orient and provide valuable guidance to our students. To enhance the analytical skills of the students, Value-Added Courses on various analytical software like R and Excel are conducted. Our students get regular opportunities for interning under senior Economists, Government Organizations, NGOs and economic think tanks.

Research in Economics is of utmost importance to the faculty and students. VSE has an atmosphere conducive to research. One of the biggest strengths of VSE is its faculty members who have distinguished academic achievements to their credit. They are involved in both sponsored and non-sponsored research projects. Students are encouraged to undertake empirical and non-empirical research under the guidance of faculty so that their students can gain insight for paper writing. Students and faculty members are involved in publishing and presenting research papers in conferences/seminars across India.
